The amount paid includes Rs 2 crore 97 lakh in lieu of cow dung purchased in Gothans from March 29 to April 15 and Rs 2 crore 43 lakh to Gothan committees, Rs 1 crore 50 lakhs to women Self-Help Groups as dividend.

Expressing happiness over the Godhan Nyay Yojana receiving the national level Elets Innovation Award, the Chief Minister congratulated the cattle rearers, livestock farmers, villagers, women Self-Help Groups and Gothan committees and officials-employees of Agriculture Department.

“This ambitious scheme of Chhattisgarh Government has become a topic of discussion across the country with other states contemplating to implement the same in their own states. Godhan Nyay Yojana is being operated in a mission mode in the state. With its successful implementation, Gothans are rapidly becoming self-supporting. More than 3 thousand Gothans across the state have become self-supporting. This is a notable achievement in the direction of making the villagers and livestock farmers self-reliant”, said Chief Minister Mr. Baghel.

He added that our Gothans have set an example of being self-sufficient, purchasing cow dung worth more than Rs 13 crores using their own funds. Addressing the programme, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey congratulated cattle rearers, villagers, Gothan committees and women Self-Help Groups for the successful implementation of Godhan Nyay Yojana in the state.

Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamal Preet Singh and Secretary Dr. S. Bharathidasan gave a detailed presentation on the achievements of Godhan Nyay Yojana. Apart from manufacturing and selling organic manure made using cow dung, these women groups are earning an additional income by manufacturing and selling ‘gokashth’, earthen lamps, incense sticks, idols and other products. Under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, out of 10 thousand 622 approved gothans, a total of 8 thousand 397 gothans are currently functioning in the state.
