Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, : The Collector Dr. Santosh Kumar Devangan said that the true strength of a nation is not measured only by economic growth, but also by how effectively it understands the needs, conditions, and aspirations of its people. He emphasized that the Census is not merely a statistical exercise, but the very foundation of good governance, policy-making, and development planning.
Speaking about the importance of the upcoming Census, Dr. Devangan stated that in an aspirational and geographically diverse district like Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, accurate population data becomes even more crucial. He said Census-based social, economic, and geographical information helps the administration implement schemes related to education, healthcare, roads, drinking water, housing, employment, and the public distribution system more effectively.

The Collector noted that Census data reveals the real picture of regional disparities, migration, literacy, weaker sections, and access to basic amenities. This enables the government to design need-based policies and ensure fair distribution of resources. According to him, reliable Census figures strengthen transparent, accountable, and result-oriented governance.
Dr. Devangan further said that at the state level, Census statistics serve as the backbone for planning priorities in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, urban development, employment, and social justice. He added that in a vast and diverse country like India, the Census acts as an authentic national database that guides parliamentary representation, budget allocation, delimitation, and long-term development strategies.
Calling the Census a pillar of democracy, he said every citizen recorded in the process becomes a recognized participant in the nation’s development journey.
Appealing to citizens, Dr. Devangan urged people to provide accurate and honest information during the Census process, stating that public participation is essential for building a stronger district, state, and nation.
He described the upcoming Census as a major opportunity for Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi to assess development achievements, identify emerging challenges, and prepare a roadmap for inclusive growth .
“A strong administration and a developed nation can only be built on the solid foundation of accurate data — and the Census remains the most powerful tool in that direction,” he said.
