Chhattisgarh’s Revenue Department will upgrade the existing system with a more efficient, technology-driven ‘Geo-referencing’ process to resolve land-related disputes in the state. Using geo-referencing, unique location pin (ULPin) numbers will be assigned to properties or land instead of the conventional ‘khasra’ numbers. Additionally, landowners will receive ‘Bhu-Aadhar’ cards. To strengthen the revenue department, the state government has allocated Rs 150 crore in the budget.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has approved the implementation of the new geo-referencing technology, and the state government has made a budgetary provision for it. The Revenue Department is preparing strategies to provide training to their personnel and to make the necessary arrangements for the technology’s implementation. To streamline the geo-referencing work, the state government will create new positions for Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars.

With geo-referencing technology, demarcating even the smallest land areas using precise longitude and latitude coordinates will become easier. In response to land-related issues in urban areas, the department will conduct a new survey, maintaining a land scale of 1:500. This scale will enable the department to prepare high-resolution digital maps for the smallest plots in densely populated urban regions. Additionally, the revenue department plans to move the land diversion process online as part of its revenue administration reforms.

To address revenue-related issues for local residents, the state government will establish new sub-tehsil offices in various locations and tehsil offices in newly created sub-divisions. Revenue Minister Tankram Verma has announced the opening of Sub-Tehsil offices in Chakrabhatha of Mungeli district and Sakarra of Takhatpur development block in Bilaspur district. The department is also preparing to launch the Deendayal Upadhyay Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Yojana, a scheme for landless agricultural labourers.
